Take the ferry from Skjærhalden to Nedgården at Søndre Sandøy. From there it is a 10 minute walk, until you see the old school, then take to the left.

Bakfickan is an innovative craft bakery in the center of Fredrikstad, which chooses to bake during the day instead of at night. That way you get the opportunity to eat freshly baked pastries. Bakfickan uses real and natural ingredients and old grains, and all the breads are baked on sourdough.
From the bakery outlet, you will find a selection of sourdough bread, sweet pastries, croissants and simple dishes that vary based on the season.
Bakfickan will offer sandwiches, lunch dishes and a good hot "lunch of the day" that you can enjoy in the seating area at the outlet, or take home or to the office. Every day, Bakfickan prepares a dish or two, based on seasonal ingredients.
Backstube is chain bakery and started its new department in Fredrikstad in october 2020.
The concept is self-service bakery, where the customer picks out the products themselves. The products are mostly known european brands, which is hard to come by elsewhere in Norway.
