Barnas Gamleby | Gamlebyen i Fredrikstad

The children thrive in the Old Town, not least with Benny, Per and the other goats that you will find next to the large playground, together with a bunch of happy hens. Or how about riding a train at the Old Town Model Railway Center and visiting Fredrikstad Museum with its fun "history bar".

A short hour south of the capital lies the fortress town of Fredrikstad. Here, life has taken its course for 450 years. The Old Town is built to protect and defend, but has rarely had to use the cannons that line the green ramparts. Here people and animals live peacefully together, as they have always done. The goats and hens like visitors, and especially if you bring a twig for them to chew on. The ducks roam freely in the streets, hoping to find that piece of biscuit you lost from the soft ice cream. The birds in the moat are very happy for a snack, and prefer grapes, peas and corn.
