Mundastua is located at Brottet Coastal Heritage Centre on Spjærøy, Hvaler, in a beautiful coastal landscape rich in cultural history. The area along Skjelsbusundet still bears clear traces of the island's historic stone quarrying industry.
The neighbouring cabins, Stenhoggerhytta and Klyven, are former stoneworkers' cabins that have been carefully renovated and insulated for year-round use. Mundastua, built in the same traditional style, opened in 2016. All three cabins are situated close to the sea, with the coastal trail just a short walk away.
Mundastua accommodates up to four guests. The cabin has electricity, while fresh water is available from an outdoor tap on the cabin wall. Toilet facilities are located in a service building approximately 100 metres from the cabin.

The small white cottage, located right by the quiet harbour, accommodates up to four guests and can be rented for a maximum of three days per booking.
Lauer is reached by ferry from Skjærhalden. As there are no regular departures, you must contact the ferry operator in advance to arrange your crossing. The cottage is located on the northern tip of Nordre Lauer, just over one kilometre south of Skjærhalden on Kirkøy.
As part of the Coastal Cabin (Kystled) network, the cottage offers a simple and traditional way to experience outdoor life along Norway's beautiful coastline.
Arisholmen is a small island just south of Kråkerøy, owned by the Municipality of Fredrikstad. Today, bookings and operations are managed through the maritime community at Isegran.
The island offers excellent mooring facilities for boats, spacious green areas ideal for games and outdoor activities, good fishing spots, and easy access to the beautiful Hvaler archipelago.
Indoor accommodation is available for up to 16 guests. The main house sleeps 12 people, while the annex accommodates 4. Both buildings have kitchen facilities, while the bathroom and shower are located in the main house.
The rental season runs from 1 April and normally continues until September or October.
A motorboat for transfer can be booked when making your reservation.
Brekke School is set in idyllic surroundings on Kirkøy, approximately 2.5 kilometres from Skjærhalden.
The building dates back to the 1770s and was first used as a school in 1849. A few years later, a second storey was added, and the school remained in use until the 1960s.
Following an extensive restoration carried out by volunteers from the Hvaler Cultural Heritage Association, the historic building has been carefully brought back to life. Today, the ground floor has been converted into a welcoming Coastal Cabin (Kystledhytte) for overnight guests.
The cabin accommodates up to six guests. It includes a kitchen, living room and bedroom, as well as running water, electricity and a private bathroom with a shower and toilet.
Rekefabrikken is beautifully located among traditional boathouses and smooth coastal rocks on Papper, Hvaler, just outside Ytre Hvaler National Park.
Enjoy stunning sunsets and views of the fairway from the private waterfront. The area offers excellent swimming, sea trout fishing from the nearby rocks and in Hvalsund, and is a popular destination for kayaking. To the south of the island lies the Stendalen Nature Reserve.

Rekefabrikken is equipped with running drinking water, electricity, a shower and a toilet, providing a comfortable stay while still being close to nature.
A private parking space is available near Bukta Guest Harbour (Flåtan). From the parking area, it is approximately 150 metres to the cabin, following steps and a path across the coastal rocks.
The cabin is approximately 1.5 kilometres west of Brattestø on Asmaløy, Hvaler. Covering around 1,700 decares (170 hectares), Akerøya is known for its beautiful coastal landscape and rich plant and wildlife. The island also offers excellent camping opportunities. Sheep graze freely on the island to help preserve its traditional cultural landscape.

The island is accessible only by private boat or water taxi. Guests should bring their own drinking water. The cabin has no electricity, but is equipped with a wood-burning stove, a gas cooker and a gas-powered refrigerator.
Thanks to the island’s abundant birdlife and grazing sheep, visitors can enjoy close encounters with wildlife throughout their stay.
Stay in your own lighthouse at Homlungen.
Homlungen lighthouse is idyllically located on an islet outside Skjærhalden on Kirkøy on Hvaler. It is a harmonious small lighthouse and a protected cultural monument from 1867. Homlungen is located on a beautiful small islet, separated by a strait of only a few ten meters from Kirkøy on Hvaler.
At Homlungen lighthouse, the lighthouse itself is ready for rental. The lighthouse has 12 beds and is rented for a maximum of 3 days per booking. The lighthouse has a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge and stove. The old chicken house has been built with a toilet and shower. The Holmen lighthouse is located on is part of the Ytre Hvaler National Park. There is electricity on the island.
To access the lighthouse from Skjærhalden, follow the coastal path south for about 1 km. The path eventually goes through pine forest and over rocky outcrops, approx. 30 min. walking in hilly terrain. The path is steep in places, and can be slippery in wet weather. On the land side inside the lighthouse there are 2 rowing boats to get over to the islet. The round trip is approx. 50 meters. It is possible to moor your own boat at the lighthouse, limited depth.

Due to its exposed location, weather conditions can make travel to and from the island challenging, particularly during periods of strong winds.
Transportation to Struten Lighthouse can be arranged through the Association Gamle Struten, which offers boat transfers to the island.
