Guided tour with Karen the Alebrewer

Join in on a live storytelling in the streets of the Old Town with Karen the Alebrewer. She will tell you about old days in the Old Town, when there was an inn on every corner in the Old Town, and the thirst quencher was beer. The walk lasts about 45 minutes and takes you on an entertaining and humorous journey in fantastic surroundings in the Old Town.

Also available throughout the evening with dinner in a rustic setting, quizzes, competitions and lots of fun, as well as music with an entertaining shanty man.

Karen Øltapper is played by Talina Hansen, actress and theater producer with 30 years of success in stage entertainment: comedies, revues, cabaret, games and children's entertainment.

Hvaler Gjestgiveri

After breakfast you can also go island hopping with the local ferry to one of the many islands located out in the sea, the hosts especially recommend Herføl. The guest house has bicycles for rent, and it is a short way to experiences and shops.

Gamlebyen Hotel

Gamlebyen Hotell is located in the venerable Graffgården, in the Old Town. The hotel has 16 cozy rooms, all differently decorated, each with its own personal style and high living standard. All rooms have been recently refurbished and is equipped with TV and free Wifi. Breakfast buffet is served at VÆRK just around the corner.

The hotel offers its own suite – the Holberg Suite – with a full kitchen and seating area for about 12 people adjacent to the hotel, as well as the unique Raadhus stable on Kongens Torv. The suite is of a high standard with unique details. The Raadhus stable is rented out in collaboration with Elisabeth Gyllensten & Geir Stahl – owners of "The old Raadhus with stable building" – in 1767. Guests who live here have almost the entire building at their disposal and can freely use a cozy backyard.

The Raadhus stable has been restored in close collaboration with the city antiquarian and county conservator and contains: main bedroom and bathroom in the stable on the 1st floor, fully equipped kitchen and living room on the 2nd floor in the old loft, and an additional bedroom. A total of four beds – and 85 sqm with spacious space.

In Plussgården, Gamlebyen Hotell offers two new meeting rooms, one with space for 12 and a slightly smaller one with space for 8. Both have new modern equipment for hybrid meetings and an associated break room with the option of serving lunch and break food.

Magasinet Isegran

The magazine is located on the idyllic island of Isegran, located midway between the Old Town and Fredrikstad city center. Kabalemagasinet offers the opportunity to rent a separate house for your guests, perfect for company parties or a small conference. The old brick house adjacent to the castle around the amphitheater can form a fantastic setting around any event. The large stone cellar accommodates 50 guests for dining and partying. Separate kitchen for those who want to cook on their own or make their own breakfast. The magazine provides drinks and food service if preferred. The house is excellent for company groups, sports teams or course guests. Historic Isegran can be reached via Kråkerøybroen or by Byfergen from the Old Town or the city center.

The House of Literature Fredrikstad

Litteraturhuset Fredrikstad (the House of Literature) is dedicated to literature and culture. Along with many exciting events, the house also includes the restaurant Fabel with a book cafe, food bar and restaurant.  

Litteraturhuset Fredrikstad is run by an independent and non-commercial foundation aiming to generate interest for literature and reading.
